United Breaks Guitars and American Airlines Breaks Computers

I'm many posts (i.e., experiences) behind and unable to catch up at this time, because my computer did not arrive in the condition in which I sent it. A Note Before We Start

It's 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday (central standard time, U.S.A.) and just seven and a half hours until my ride comes to drive me to the airport. I was hoping I might have time to write up a preemptive introduction before my travels begin, but I simply haven't the time to do so. This post serves as my apology, and my promise to supply an appropriate introduction after I land. I am writing this in a moment of downtime, as I'm enjoying the last few bites of Gran's homemade double chocolate cake.

I only need to remember two things when I land in Tokyo:

Ego dekimasuka?
eh-goe deh-kee-mah-skah (oe = long o, as in "go" or "toe" or "flow")
Can we do this (converse) in English?

Arigatou gozaimasu.
ah-ree-gah-toe goe-zai-mahs (ai = long i sound, as in "die" or "eye" or "fly")
Thank you very much.
